Switzerland Precious Metals Trade Charts H1 2013
Swiss precious metals trade (PM), gold and silver, trade data from 2002 – Q2 2013.
Unfortunately Switzerland only publishes total precious metals trade numbers, so we don’t know where every Kg ends up. Customs employees did tell me this could change next year!
For the gold chart I used HS codes:
Google Translate:
– 71081200 Gold, including gold plated with platinum, unwrought, other than for monetary purposes (other than powder)
– 71189010 Gold coins, and with or without valid as legal tender, Platinum coins as legal tender (excl. medals, jewelry Coins, collectors’ pieces of numismatic value, waste and scrap)
For the silver chart I used HS codes:
Google Translate:
– 71069100 Silver, including silver plated with gold or platinum, unwrought (excl. in powder)
– 71189020 Silver coins as legal tender (excl. medals, jewelry Coins, collectors’ pieces of numismatic value, waste and scrap)
Though most of the trade comes from the categories 71081200 and 71069100, as can be seen from a screen dump of the H1 2013 Swiss customs report.
Year to date Switzerland has imported 1611 tons of gold and exported 1504 tons. For silver imports were 783 tons and exports 1045 tons.
