The 1/2 oz Gold Kangaroo is a gold bullion coin produced by Australia's Perth Mint as part of its Australian Bullion Coin Program. Each Gold Kangaroo coin weighs 1/2 troy ounce and has a gold fineness of 0.9999.

This series of investment coins, which vividly capture scenes of the outback via portrayals of one of Australia’s most famous symbols, the Australian Kangaroo, have been produced by the Perth Mint since 1986.

The obverse of the 2020 1/2 oz Gold Kangaroo bullion coin portrays an adult and a juvenile kangaroo amid a stand of xanthorrhoeas, typical grass trees of the Australian outback. Inscribed above are the words 'AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO', and below, the coin's year, weight and gold purity '2020 1/2oz 9999 GOLD'. A small ‘P’ mint mark to the left signifies Perth.

The reverse of the 1/2 oz Gold Kangaroo features a head portrait of Australia’s head of state, Queen Elizabeth II. The reserve face also states the coin's official face value of '50 dollars'.

The Perth Mint was founded in 1899 as a branch mint of the famous British Royal Mint and has been under ownership of the Government of Western Australia since 1970.

The 1/2oz 2020 Gold Kangaroo bullion coin has a limited mintage of 100,000 pieces.
