Gold Kangaroo bullion coins from the Perth Mint have been produced by the Mint every year since 1986, and display a different Kangaroo image each year.

The obverse of the 2021 1/2 oz Gold Kangaroo bullion coin features imagery of a crouching kangaroo against Waratah and Kangaroo Paw native Australian plants.

Inscribed above the image are the words 'AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO', and below, the coin's year, weight and gold purity '2021 1/2oz 9999 GOLD'. A small ‘P’ mint mark to the left signifies Perth.

The reverse of the 1/2 oz Gold Kangaroo features a head portrait of Australia’s head of state, Queen Elizabeth II. The reserve face also states the coin's official face value of '50 dollars'.

The Perth Mint is fully owned by the Government of Western Australia and is both a mint and a refinery.
