The mouse is the first of the twelve animals in the Chinese zodiac. Those born in the Year of the Mouse are said to be intelligent, optimistic, quick-witted and resourceful.
The reverse of the 1 oz gold coin features a vivid portrayal of a mouse foraging among stalks of wheat with the Chinese character for mouse displayed in a contemporary style along with the year 2020.
The obverse of the coin features an Ian Rank-Broadley designed portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with the words “AUSTRALIA”, and the coin’s weight and gold purity “1 oz 9999 Au”.
