The reverse of the coin features a rooster standing proudly crowing at the sun amid a rock with grass growing from underneath. The Chinese character for” rooster” appears in front of the rooster with “1 OZ 9999 GOLD” below the image.

The obverse features the head of state of the British Commonwealth, Elizabeth II, along with the weight of the coin, its purity and face value. The face value of the 1 ounce coin is A$100.
