One of the ten coins in the Queen’s Beast platinum series, the platinum falcon refers to the heraldic beast the Falcon of the Plantagenets.

Designed by Royal Mint designer Jody Clark, each of the 10 coins in the Queen’s Beast series is inspired by mythical beasts of British royal heraldry. 

The reverse of the coin features a mighty falcon perched on top of a shield against a chainmail background. In heraldry, the falcon represents single-minded determination.

The observe of the Falcon of the Plantagenets platinum coin features a portrait of Elizabeth II, also designed by the Royal Mint’s Jody Clark.
