The 11^th coin of the popular Australian Lunar Series features a German Shepherd dog and pup lying in grass with Chinese peony flowers in the background.

Those born in the Year of the Dog are said to be honest, friendly and have a strong sense of responsibility. 

The Chinese character for "Dog" and the inscription of "Year of the Dog" also appears on the coin.

The obverse features the Ian Rank - Broadley profile of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the purity of the coin and the denomination.
