The reverse of the 1 oz Silver Libertad features a representation of Mexico City’s most famous landmark, the winged Angel of Independence, set against a background of the Mexican volcanoes Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl.

The obverse of the 1 oz coin features the National Seals of Mexico encircled by Mexico’s official name in Spanish “Estados Unidos Mexicanos”. An outer circle in the design displays imagery of historical Mexican coats of arms.
