Auction Procedures

Q: How do purchase an item on auction?

A: To win an auction, you must have the highest bid at the auction's conclusion.

Q: How do I place a bid?

A: You have two bidding options: a fixed bid for a specific amount or an autobid. An autobid allows you to set a maximum bidding limit where our system automatically places incremental bids on your behalf, ensuring you remain the highest bidder up to your maximum autobid limit. For example, if the current highest bid for an item is $100, and you have set an autobid of up to $110, our system will bid $101 for you, and continue to outbid others by the minimum bid increment until it reaches your maximum of $110.

Q: How/when does an auction end?

A: Each auction has a displayed end time. However, if bids are placed in the last minute, the auction extends by one minute. The auction concludes either at the end of the stated end time or after a one-minute extension interval passes without any new bids. If there is one or more bids during the last minute of an auction, the auction end time automatically extends for one minute at a time.

Q: How does the auction time countdown on BullionStar’s website work?

A: The countdown timer displays the remaining time in HH:MM:SS format, adjusting to your device's timezone. Should any last-minute bids occur, both the timer and end time will refresh to reflect the auction's extension.

Q: How do bid increments work in BullionStar auctions?

A: Bid increments refer to the minimum amount by which a bid must be raised over the current highest bid. The bid increment is set by BullionStar. If the bid increment is $2, this means that if the current highest bid on an item is SGD 100, the next bid must be at least SGD 102 or higher. It's important to note that while there is a minimum bid increment, you are free to increase your bid by more than this amount if you choose.

Q: What is the "Buy Now" option and how does it work?

A: The "Buy Now" option allows you to immediately purchase an auction item at a fixed price, bypassing the bidding process. This option is available for select items and conditions. When you click on the "Buy Now" button, the item is added to your shopping cart for checkout.

Q: Can I bid on an item from two or more different accounts?

A: No, as per BullionStar’s terms and conditions, each customer is restricted to a single registered account. Non-compliance with these terms may result in the suspension or termination of your BullionStar account.

Q: What happens if no one bids on an auction?

A: If an auction item does not receive bids above the reserved starting price, the auction for that item is aborted. The item may be relisted in future auctions or offered for a fixed price based on BullionStar's discretion.

Pricing

Q: Are there any fees added to the auction price

A: No additional fees are applied if you opt for Personal Collection at our Bullion Center at 45 New Bridge Road in Singapore or use Vault Storage (standard vault storage charges apply). Standard shipping and insurance fees apply for shipping as delivery method. You can see indicated shipping and insurance fees for an auction item by clicking on the item. For certain payment methods like card payment and NETS, standard fees apply. Further details on payment methods can be found here.

Q: Can I place bids in my preferred currency?

A: No, all bids must be placed in Singapore Dollars. However, upon winning an auction, you have the flexibility to settle the payment in any of BullionStar's accepted currencies, including in cryptocurrency.

Bidding

Q: Can I cancel or withdraw bids I've placed?

A: Once placed, bids are binding as per our terms and conditions. If you however need to withdraw a bid, please contact us for manual processing. A retraction fee of SGD 200 or 10% of your highest bid, whichever is greater, applies. BullionStar reserves the right to disable the auction functionality for your BullionStar account or alternatively suspend or terminate your BullionStar account in case you retract bids.

Q: Why is a bid no longer shown in the bidding history?

A: Bids are generally binding, but in exceptional circumstances, a bid may be retracted for a fee. Bids suspected of being fraudulent or placed by non-genuine bidders may also be removed.

Q: What is autobid? How does autobidding work?

A: Autobidding simplifies the bidding process by automatically placing bids on your behalf, marginally higher than the current highest bid, but never exceeding your pre-set maximum limit. For instance, if you activate an autobid of $110 for an item currently at $100, our system raises your bid to $101. Should another participant bid $102, the system automatically raises your bid to $103, continually adjusting until it reaches your maximum of $110. This ensures you stay in the lead without constantly monitoring the auction, up to the limit you're comfortable with.

Q: What happens in case of equal bids?

A: In rare cases where an auction participant has made use of autobids, a scenario may occur where two bidders have bid the same amount. In this case, priority is given to the bid that was placed first. The participant who entered their bid first will be recognised as the leading or winning bidder.
